Her First Halloween!

Ok, so technically it's still a few days til Halloween. However, we're pretty much done celebrating it here. Yesterday was the AMM Halloween party - my girl was the unanimous yet unofficial winner of the cutest costume. Unofficial because the hadn't planned on giving out ribbons to the babies - just the bigger kids. And of course, ALL of the bigger kids got some sort of an award! She was the cutest little duckling ever though!
This afternoon was Trick or Treat here in Manchester - we had about 30 kids - not too bad a turnout. Babygirl slept through most of trick of treat. When she woke up we went to say hi to a couple of neighbors, and ended up staying at the Galvin's for about an hour. She and E. (her nearly birthday buddy) had fun really playing for the first time. Hopefully we'll get the girls together a bit more often now that they're older.
Well I'm heading back to focusing my attention to the World Series - GO SOX!!! You're almost there!

Long time no write!

I realized that Babygirl's life is going by in the blink of an eye, and that since returning to work, I really haven't written about any of it! She's already reached so many milestones, but at the same time I know that we've got many many more ahead of us!

But to name a few, with a general idea of when they happened -

Her first tooth came in at about 5 1/2 months, with the second followed closely behind about two weeks later. They were her two front, bottom teeth, and until about a week ago, they were the only ones! She's since gotten two of her top teeth, one of the front teeth and the other right next to it (but not the other front tooth!). She's a little lopsided, but it's almost Halloween, so she can claim jack o lantern!

At about 6 months she started sitting up, although a little wobbly! Within a couple weeks though she was an old pro, and by the time Todd came home from his on campus portions of his MFA program she was sitting up with no real help needed.

By about 7 1/2 months she was starting to crawl, but more of an army style crawl, pulling herself with her elbows, staying down on her belly and wiggling her hips more than anything! But by about 8 1/2 months she had "real" crawling down, and there's not much stopping her. She still sticks close to us though. She will move around a room if we're in it, but only leaves a room if she's following Mommy or Daddy!

At 4 months she started on Rice cereal, and after a couple weeks of just cereal we added in some fruits. I found that she LOVES bananas, and also enjoys just about everything else! Gradually we started adding in new fruits and veggies, and she has really taken to everything. At about 6 months she started trying some of the jarred dinners. She's now up to eating 3 meals a day and nursing just a few times a day. She's also a master with the sippy cup, trying very watered down juice and loving it. She's trying out new finger foods too - she likes Cheerios, cheese, crackers, zucchini bread, jello jigglers and diced peaches and pears. She's certainly not starving, by any means!

She had her nine month checkup this week, and she's thriving. She's up to 18lb, 5oz and she's 28 inches tall. This was the one appointment that I wasn't able to go to, but Todd said that Dr. Nelson was very pleased.

I'll try to do this more often, because someday I'll look back and wish I'd remembered all the details better! It's just flying by too fast. But at the same time I love this age - she's so much fun - always smiling and laughing, babbling all the time. She's a joy, and I definitely prefer this age to the sleepless early days!

Til later...
